Summary
At the request of the former owner of this treasured lakefront site, Checkwitch Poiron Architects developed a schematic design for a wellness centre that would make the project environmentally sustainable and financially feasible. The design aims at restoring the site to its former glory, as it had been damaged by previous development and fire. Setting the resort into the hillside utilizes the large excavation site where the former lodge once sat before it burned down. It also minimizes the visual impact of the building and allows for a large greenspace roof accessible to the public. Through collaboration with a consultant team, the scheme also incorporated water treatment facilities and an affordable housing component.
